Having become a fan of the navy blue eye-liner, which I have been applying liberally to my eyes since the day I discovered it, I have decided to move my search on to the next level of intensity…The Palette! Here is my list of the 5 best sultry selections in the shops.
1. ‘Hourglass – Vol.6 in Neo-Classic’ Price £42.00. From Space NK
This multi-palette has universal shades for every complexion. There are 5 matt shades and 1 shimmer (the rosey neutral on the bottom). They’re super blendable and easy to apply, so you can go for the full on look of smouldery blue or for the less made up days, a hint of neutral. They are crease proof, long wearing and the packaging is beautiful with a 360 degree swivel mirror so you can compact it then look at yourself!
2. ‘Topshop Eyeshadow palette in Glass House’ Price £12.00. From Topshop
I love this no fuss, slim line palette with 4 complimentary colours to create the perfect blue smokey eye. The white can be used for an all over base to even everything out or to pick out a little highlight to keep it bright in the corners. The black is a nice addition and a classic staple in itself, so if you want to intensify the look, be sure to blend this with the blue for midnight drama-rama.
3. ‘Bobbi Brown Navy and Nudes Palette Limited Edition’ £48.00 From Bobbi Brown
This has such a gorgeous range of colours, I want to go and buy it now, and as it’s limited edition I probably shouldn’t hang about! The navy blue is the key to this palette and it’s such a beautiful dark inky shade, that would double up wonderfully as an eye-liner. Also try it as a wet liner for that extra strength in colour. This is an essential for summer through to winter, the neutrals are shimmery, so you could play with these on their own too for a pretty summery look.
4. ‘Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow Duo in Taupe/Blue Black Shimmer’ £34.00 from Space NK
This little luminescent duo has the subtle and strong, for a neutral or full on evening glam look. If you’re going out and want to have a statement eye, don’t be afraid to use the blue like you would do a black to create the frame, it will be a lot more forgiving and you can either smudge it along the bottom lid or line it with a thin brush. Use the taupe in the insides of the eye and a base if you’d like as it will create the warm shimmer that will be very flattering. Really great pair of pigment packed shades here and a handbag friendly size.
5. ‘Lancome -Hypnose Drama Eye Palette in Bain De Minuit’ Price £37.00 from Selfridges
If you’re not sure what kind of blue mood you’re going to be in, this one’s for you. Lancome have created this range of blues for evening or daytime with an added bit of shimmer for that ‘pop’ to the eyes. You have plenty of shades and a couple of different applicators to help you experiment with looks and techniques and it has a nice large mirror for fuss free application on the move. Use the brighter colour for the inner corners of the eyes to widen them and then work and blend the darker colours from the outside and into the socket…blend blend blend and you can create some serious blue glam.
